Beyond A Prayer Breakfast

Praying Together For The 7 Mountains Of Our Society In Lancaster County, PA

The seven mountains of any society are religion, education, family, media, arts/entertainment, government, and business. By seven mountains, we mean the primary spheres of influence in our culture. Because God calls us to go into all the world (not just the church) to make disciples, we want to gather and pray for all of Lancaster County. By engaging with and influencing these seven mountains of influence, Christ followers can play a significant role in shaping society and bringing about positive change in the world.

Mission Statement

To encourage participation in prayer, within Lancaster County, by means of a large community gathering and other gatherings, small prayer groups and the encouragement of prayer in the lives of individual believers as we all pursue life in Jesus Christ.

Join A Local Church

If you are not already part of a local church, we would encourage you to join one! The christian life is not a solo venture. We need each other, and we are called to love, serve, and pray together.

Pray On Your Own

We would also encourage you to pray on your own. We want to imitate Christ who often woke up early or withdrew from the crowds to pray to God the Father.

Why Pray?

God calls us to pray

In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Paul Silas and Timothy encourage the church in Thessalonica to pray because it is the will of God, saying, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

Jesus prayed

As we seek to imitate the life of Christ, praying both in private and in community are essential rhythms of the following in Jesus' footsteps. Luke tells us that Jesus often withdrew to pray, and we have numerous examples in the bible of Jesus praying with and for his disciples.

So we can be part of God's works

Even though God doesn't NEED our help, he has established prayer as a part of His plan to accomplish His work of redemption. That is why we can pray for God's kingdom to come, and his will to be done "on earth as it is in heaven."
